The day of the dead by Tenten / 2017

THE DAY OF THE DEAD

It’s a sunny day, the sky was blue, the grass was green,
all the Mexicans partied and celebrated  Dia de los Muertos happily,
but I was not. Every year I had to celebrate the fiesta with mommy.
But this year wasn’t like that anymore. So I didn’t join the fiesta,
no mom, no me!

I was decorating mums grave with yellow Marigold flowers
which my father had instructed me to do. I was thinking of her,
when a tear ran down my cheek. Something tickled me under
my palm, I quickly pulled my hand out and saw a flower
suddenly grow faster than ant running!  The flower was the shade
of purple and blue with an amazing glaze, but as I touched it,
it’s green stems wrapped around my arm as tight as a murderer
locking it’s victim and pulled me down under the lightless grave.

It was dark and damp down there so I can only see the flower
lying on the floor. I felt something behind me so I turned around
and saw a skeleton glaring at me in the dark, I walked backward
with my teeth chattering. More skeletons appeared and they
all stared singing! I stepped back from the skeletons, and noticed
another one behind me putting the flower behind her ear.
I tried to run away but then the skeleton suddenly appeared right
in front of me and gave me a humongous plate.  Onto the plate
she threw thousands of Pan de los Muertos into a really tall pile.
She puts some kind of pie with a lot of yellowish pastry.

As soon as the skeleton threw it up there the gigantic pile started
to lean…and “Slosh!” The pastry of the pie covered the floor and
made it slippery and yellow so I couldn’t go anywhere!  But with
the skeletons bony legs could easily grip the floor so the skeleton
ran and pushed me to the edge of the ground and floated in the air
and bounced on a ginormous balloon that has a skull on it and I went
to a bigger one and slipped onto the string of the balloon.
The faces of the balloons moved and popped leaving only me and
the string. I closed my eyes and fell . . .

Suddenly, I landed on the (same) skeleton’s arms!?!? I saw a pinata,
The skeleton put me down, pulled of her arm and pulled her head band
down to cover her eyes, tried to hit the piñata but it seems like it was
moving away so she never got it!!!  It was really funny and made me
start to enjoy. I picked up a bone of another skeleton and hit the piñata,
 it exploded with rainbow candy!

We dressed up to go to the skeleton fiesta and my dress was
beautiful blue ! As we danced, we twirled, but as the skeleton twirled,
she magically turned into my mom!!! We hugged, and wave of sadness
rushed over me, mom deceased already, it wasn’t real!
I really missed her! I hugged her with all my heart, as tight as I can,
with my eyes full of tears. Knowing will never meet again.
I opened my eyes I saw only mom’s grave and my arms pretending
to be hugging her.

I felt the blue flower behind my ear, took it out, studied it
and noticed a skull shape inside the petals of the flower.
It made me realize that it was still Dia de los Muertos!!!
Now I know that today is the day to be happy, about colourful times
and the moments of joy! Luckily, I was still wearing the blue dress
so I skipped back to the fiesta.

The End.
